Zimbabwe seeks to defer Hwange’s US$1b debt repayment until 2052

The plan would extend the loan’s grace period by four years to April 2029, stretch repayments by a further decade to April 28, 2052, and convert the facility from United States dollars to Chinese renminbi, according to Zesa Holdings’ second-quarter 2026 Megawatt Bulletin.
